third-party administrator (TPA) to steer business away from independent
glass shops.

inform customers that they have the right to choose a retail glass shop.
It also mandates that call center representatives tell customers that the
TPA is a separate entity from their insurer with an arrangement to

TPA will have to inform the consumer of that relationship through a

Body Association (MABA) has filed legislation that would enforce major
provisions of the landmark federal 1963 Consent Decree within the state of
Massachusetts. -- A state-by-state
approach to codify relevant sections of the Consent Decree is unique and,
in light of the unwillingness or inability of current federal officials to
act, offers an alternative approach for those who have spent years trying

Proves Insightful - A recent hearing about steering the South Carolina
legislature provided an interesting glimpse into how different industry
factions view the issue and led to, as the committee's chairman put it,
"diametrically opposite viewpoints from each side." -- The first speaker
was Cynthia Young from South Carolina Department of Insurance. She stated
that her agency had received approximately 25-30 complaints from glass
companies alleging that consumers were being steered. She said that her
division had investigated these complaints and found that none of the
consumers with whom she spoke were now alleging steering had taken place.
"Everyone I talked with told me they were not steered," she said.
