  • Right to Repair Legislation Goes to House Subcommittee in Oregon - GlassBYTES: The Oregon House Committee on Consumer Protection reviewed a bill yesterday that would require insurance companies to inform customers that they have the right choose an automotive repair facility, including glass shops. The bill, SB 523, which encompasses glass shops, already passed in the Oregon Senate with a vote of 23-4. The bill will now go to the House for a vote, according to Steve Dickson, administrator for the House Consumer Protection committee.

  • Oregon House Subcommittee Set to Review Right-to-Repair Legislation - GlassBYTES: Today at 1 p.m. Pacific Time the Oregon House Subcommittee for Consumer Protection was scheduled to discuss SB 523 A, a bill that would require insurance companies to inform customers that they have the right to choose an automotive repair facility (including glass shops) before recommending a particular motor vehicle repair shop to make repairs to the insured's vehicle.
  • AASP-MN Bill Signed by Governor Pawlenty! - On May 17th, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signed into law legislation proposed by the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers, Minnesota (AASP-MN). House File 1949/Senate File 1542 prohibits insurers from adjusting a repair shop estimate when the extent of damage is in dispute unless the insurer conducts a physical inspection of the vehicle. The legislation also prohibits insurers from requiring that shops use a particular vendor for parts procurement. The legislation will become effective on August 1, 2007.
