  • Kick the tires: Faulty valve stems may leave you flat - Defective valve stems made in China and distributed in the United States could allow tires to deflate at high speeds, safety advocates said. -- The devices in question are the TR413 model, a 1.25-inch valve stem made by Shanghai Baolong Industries Co. Ltd. in China. Installed in replacement tires by a supplier or service attendant, they can develop cracks that lead to loss of air pressure.

  • House Small Business Committee Rebukes AAIA on 'Right to Repair' - ASA: At a hearing of the House Small Business Committee, members of Congress and the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission strongly questioned the testimony of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association and seemed unconvinced that the so-called "Right to Repair" legislation was necessary.
  • No details on Bill Heard - The Georgia-based parent company of Bill Heard Chevrolet on University Drive, which closed abruptly Wednesday, wasn't making any further comments Thursday. -- A voice-mail message at the dealership stated, "Regrettably, Bill Heard has closed for all new business as of Wednesday, Sept. 24th." The message then provided phone numbers for customers who have vehicles in the body shop or service department.

It offers free consumer advice and conciliation service, and low cost, legally binding arbitration.
  • Belron's External Sales Up 7 Percent for First Half of 2008 - glassBYTEs™: For the first half of 2008, Belron sales grew by 7 percent to approximately $1,570 million U.S. dollars (1,068 million Euros), consisting of 6 percent organic growth and 7 percent acquired growth, according to a press release issued this morning by parent company D'Ieteren. The acquired growth was offset by a currency translation impact of 6 percent, mainly due to the strength of the Euro against the U.S. dollar and GB pound, according to the company.
