Proposed Insurance Regulation - The California Department of Insurance (DOI)
held hearings to discuss proposed amendments to the California Insurance Code
relating to Direct Repair Programs and Labor Rate Surveys and Additional
Standards for Auto Body Repair Labor Rate Surveys. The Automotive Service
Association (ASA) reviewed the proposed regulatory changes and submitted
comments to the Department of Insurance.

Mississippi man alleges he was
coerced to settle claim - Bloomington, Ill.-based State Farm paid McIntosh

from State Farm settlement - A year after court approval of a $1.2 million

St. Paul Travelers Reports
Third Quarter 2006 Net Income - The St. Paul Travelers Companies, Inc.
("St. Paul Travelers") today reported net income of $1.043 billion, or $1.52

Progressive drops appeal,

Insurance last week withdrew its appeal of Forest Hills' rejection of its
proposed claims center on 5.8 acres at the top of Digital Drive. -- Cristy
Cote, spokeswoman for Progressive, said the company has identified another
site on which to build a claims center that is not in Forest Hills but in the
Pittsburgh area.

Specialists (SCRS) report the recent vendor change in information provider for
the American Family Insurance Customer Repair Program (CRP) has caused a
ground swell of questions, accusations and opposition in the collision repair
industry. It was only a few years

Modernization Commission (AMC) held a public hearing to discuss the
McCarran-Ferguson Act. -- Originally, the McCarran-Ferguson Act was enacted in
1945 to permit the states to continue regulating the insurance business. Under
the act, the business of insurance is exempt from some federal antitrust
statutes to the extent that it is regulated by the states.
Toyota recalling some Scion tC
sedans because of side air bags - Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it was
recalling about 30,000 Scion tC sports coupes over concerns that the side air
bags could inadvertently deploy if the door is slammed forcefully. -- The
recall affects about 20 percent of the tCs produced during the 2005 and 2006
model years, Toyota said. The vehicle is only sold in the United States.

About 4,000 Former Visteon
Workers Take Ford Buyouts, Retirements - About 4,000 Ford Motor Co. hourly

deal - Auto parts company Martinrea International Inc. has agreed to buy
the North American automotive body and chassis operations of Germany-owned
ThyssenKrupp Budd Co. for US$275 million in a major deal that nearly triples
