State Farm’s Susan Hood to speak at Women’s Industry Network (WIN) April conference

 

Washington, D.C., February 20, 2007 – A dynamic docket of topics and speakers are in store for those individuals attending the Women’s Industry Network (WIN) conference scheduled for April 29 through May 1 in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

The conference will cut across functional job lines and bring together women shop owners, technicians, and service and product providers for a series of inspiring speakers and informative seminars.

 

Keynote speaker will be Susan Hood, claims vice-president of State Farm.  Hood joined State Farm in 1981 as the fire claim representative in Santa Clara, California. She became divisional manager in Fairfax, Virginia, and then transferred to corporate headquarters in 1996 as executive assistant-operations in the president’s office. She became vice-president – operations in California in 1998 and claims vice-president in 2002.

 

Other speakers will include Laura Angell, I-CAR instructor from Warren Technical Center in Lakewood, Colorado; Mary Mahoney, vice-president of National Marketing at Enterprise Rent-A-Car; and Matthew Ohrnstein and Marcy Tieger from Symphony Advisors, LLC.

 

Seminar topics at the conference will include business strategies, recruiting more women to the industry, working with vo-techs, and performance management techniques.

 

“Our goal is to strengthen and expand opportunities for women in our industry,” said Sheila Loftus, executive director of WIN. Loftus continued, “We want to promote the fresh perspectives that women can bring to industry issues, as well as help enlarge the range and scope of employment opportunities for women.”

 

The Women’s Industry Network will hold its first conference April 29 through May 1, 2007 at the Hilton Phoenix Airport Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. The cost to attend the WIN conference is $325 per person, which includes meals, seminars, and membership in WIN. Space is limited.
